Since the early 1950's American Federal Savings Bank has been serving banking needs for Helena and the surrounding area. Over the years new facilities were built in Bozeman, Butte, and Townsend, Montana. In the early 1990's American Federal had out grown its facility and realized they needed to have a new corporate headquarters and banking facility.
This 37,000 square foot building was designed to incorporate a solid image incorporating design elements prevalent in some of Helena's historic buildings.
The building interior features an extensive use of indoor planters. The open atrium is surrounded by built-in planters and highlighted with a skylight. besides the corporate headquarters and banking area it houses the central computer for all of its facilities, safe deposit vault, and large divisible conference and employee area.
